Recommended Usage:
Every time a failed status report is received a counter is incremented by one for that failed number. If a successful status is received the counter is reset to zero for that number. The system tracks the number of consecutive failures. By specifying the number of consecutive failures, as above, you can control what numbers are removed.
The more often you send, the more failures you should specify. 5 failures is considered conservative, 3 failures is more aggressive. A higher number of specified failures will purge fewer numbers.
Purge your groups of failed numbers on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. (Note: The numbers are not deleted, they are moved to a group called `Failed Numbers`).
You can send messages to the `Failed Numbers` group. This is done the same way that you send to the other groups. (Note: You should expect a high text delivery failure rate if you send text’s to the failed number group.)
You can also move numbers from this group back into the other groups, if necessary.

The following information is presented:
Once you have added one or more email addresses and passwords to the Email setup, you can send messages from virtually any email client (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) or a Web Mail platform (Yahoo or Hot Mail). This can be done using one of two methods:
Method 1: password in subject - This is the easiest way to get started. Include the password in the Subject line of the email. This is the password that was set in Email setup. Make sure that the From field of the emails that you send contain the email address that you chose for authentication. To verify the From field, send an email to yourself and see what address the From field contains.
We advise that you change the password regularly. Sending your password in an email is insecure, changing this frequently will better protect you. For most customers this level of security will be adequate. If you require a higher level of security use Method 2.
Sending the message - You can send the message to one or more phones. Enter the email address as country code and number (no spaces or leading zero) i.e. 1820030101@email.bulktextusa.com.
The message has a limit of 140 character. Characters included in the message over 140 will be deleted.
Send the email and it will appear as an text on the receiving phone.
Method 2: SMTP authentication - (for developers only) SMTP authentication provides a higher level of security but is complex to implement. Please login to your account and click the link under this section for in-depth help.

Text (Tab-Delimited) File
A tab-delimited text file is a text file with tabs separating the discrete pieces of information and one record per line.
(i.e. Cellular_numberFirstnamelast name)
These files are used for uploading data to the system. Bulk phonebook entries and multiple messages are the most common. Prior to creating the file please verify the acceptable order of the data fields. The incorrect order will produce errors during the upload.
These files can easily be made with most spreadsheet programs.
Place the data in the correct columns starting with Column A, Cell A1. In the example above enter the information as follows:
Column A = Cell Number (country code and number, no spaces or leading zero, e.g. 1828872376)
Column B = First Name - must contain at least one character.
Column C = last name - must contain at least one character.
If there is no information for either the First Name or the last name field - please place a character in these fields - an x is recommended. You can use the same character as only the phone number needs to be unique.
When all the information is on the spreadsheet save the file as a Text Tab delimited file. This is usually done by selecting Save As from the File menu, choose file type of Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt) and then click the Save button.
In Excel, the system may show this message: "The selected file type does not support workbooks that contain multiple sheets. To save only the active worksheet, Click OK" CLICK 'OK' to save you active worksheet. When you select Close you may see this message: "Filename is not in Excel format. Do you want to save your changes?" CLICK 'No' as you do not need to save you file again.
If would want to verify that the file is in the correct format this can be done by opening the file in a text editor to check the format.
This is how the phonebook group file should look:
1820000001 Smith John
1820000002 Smith X
1000000003 X X
447700000001 U K
447700000002 X Friend
This is how the Multimessage file for sending unique messages to individuals should look:
1820000001 Please come to my party!
1820000002 I would like to offer you a discount!
1000000003 Using text is fun and easy
447700000001 A 25% discount when you show this text
